The West Otter Lake Board working together to make our lake better.

The West Otter Lake Property Owners Association receives another LARE grant. The Board of Directors had applied for a grant for an Engineering Study to study the effect and control of water flow in and out of our lake. On July 15th 2008 we were awarded $18,000.00 by the DNR’s LARE Division to start this study. This is a sharing grant that W.O.L. Association will have to contribute 10% of the cost.

On July 28th Dana Slack and John Williamson will be meeting with LARE representatives to get started in selecting the engineers to do the study. After that, members of the Board will be meeting with the engineers, and government officials, to bring the results and recommendations of the study to the W.O.L. Association.

This is the second LARE grant that W.O.L. has received this year. In May we received a $13,000.00 grant for two treatments of exotic weeds. The applicator Weed Patrol had the lowest bid for applying 2-4D. The first application was in early June and if needed a second application will be in August.
